Dilip Kumar was laid to rest with full state honors at Juhu Qabrastan. Dilip Kumar (aged 98), popularly known as “Tragedy King” and “The First Khan”, one of yesteryear’s Superstar and film producers breathed his last today at Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, India.

As soon as the sad news broke out, Kumar’s fans were seen dismayed and the entire Bollywood industry drowned in blues. 

Kumar’s beloved friend, Faisal Farooqui, announced the news of his demise through Instagram. He stated, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him, we return,”

Narendra Modi Extended Condolences

Soon after the news broke out, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences to the family, on Twitter, he wrote:

Dharmendra Mourning

Dharmendra who cherished his brotherly relationship with Dilip Kumar visited him last time to bid adieu to his beloved brother. On Twitter, he shared the picture where he is seen mourning in grief and holding the face of the mortal remains of Dilip Kumar.

Dilip Kumar’s Achievements

Dilip Kumar has been known so far for introducing unique & noteworthy acting practices to the realm of Bollywood cinema. Dilip’s famous films that left an impeccable imprint on the Indian film industry, include Aan, Daag, Devdas, Madhumati, Azaad, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Kranti, Karma, Ram Aur Shyam, among others.

Because of his memorable contribution to cinema, Dilip was awarded India’s highest award in the artform “Dadasaheb Phalke” Award. Along with this, he was also honored with the “Padma Vibhushan”, the second-highest civilian award in the country.

While highlighting his achievements, it is important to quote that Kumar made the record by winning many of the “Filmfare Awards” for Best Actor. Also, he was the inaugural recipient of this honor.

Dilip Kumar was also the only Bollywood star who received, Nishan-e-Imtiaz, which is Pakistan’s highest civilian award.

Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Amitabh Bachan, Anil Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan were among others paid homage to Dilip Kumar.
