Battling to survive as a migrant from Bihar, Janhvi Kapoor takes advantage of her innocent looks, and turns into a drug peddler in GoodLuck Jerry!
Film Goodluck Jerry, is streaming on Disney+Hotstar starting 29th July 2022. The movie is a black comedy and is a remake of the Tamil movie Kolamavu Kokila released back in 2018.
Directed by Siddharth Sengupta, Good luck Jerry is about a lower-middle-class girl Jerry played by Janhvi Kapoor, who has migrated from Bihar to Punjab which is notorious for drug mafia.
While working as a masseuse, Jerry struggled to adapt to the new culture as she has just shifted to Punjab. Above that, her father dies in an accident and the widowed mother, played by Mita Vashisht struggled to make ends meet, and is diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer.
Worried and depressed about the family situation and in need of 20 Lakh rupees, Jerry works as a drug peddler, and the biggest advantage as a peddler is her personality and different state identity which helps Jerry fearlessly smuggles drugs easily.
She works for a drug mafia that uses her to transport drugs to neighboring states. The antagonist is played by Sushant Singh who is a gangster and is accompanied by Sahil Mehta. Neeraj Sood is also among the nominal names of the cast of Good Luck Jerry.
The story takes a twist when Jerry decides to move out of the drug business as she had a close shave being caught red-handed, this scares her. Entrapped she requests the gang leader to let her go but he puts forward a condition – i.e. transport 100kg of drugs as her last assignment.
The plot of the film is interesting and keeps the audience hooked. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the comedy of Deepak Dobrial in GoodLuck Jerry keeps the film going. Janhvi Kapoor has also done fairly well as an intelligent yet innocent-looking laborer from Bihar, especially since she mimicked the Bhojpuri accent to perfection. Mita Vashisht is a versatile actress who has been doing every type of role gracefully for decades.
Siddharth Sengupta has also proved himself to be a fine director with this debut film of his for the OTT platform Disney plus Hotstar. The songs of the movie Good Luck Jerry are also adding humor to it.
