India vs New Zealand T20 WC 2021 – Match Details

New Zealand won a very important toss today and has elected to bowl first.

Below are the India and New Zealand Playing XIs that were declared.

India XI: I Kishan, R Sharma, KL Rahul, V Kohli, R Pant, H Pandya, R Jadeja, S Thakur, M Shami, V Chakravarthy, J Bumrah’

New Zealand XI: M Guptill, D Mitchell, K Williamson, J Neesham, D Conway, G Phillips, M Santner, I Sodhi, T Southee, A Milne, T Boult

While batting first India yet again gave a disappointing performance, it was a do-or-die match and India seemed to be under its own pressure. The opening combination was changed, Ishan Kishan opened with Rahul but it did not click. Ishan was dismissed cheaply. 

Thereafter, KL Rahul, Rohit, and Virat too could not stay for longer, as a result, India stumbled at 48-4 after 10 overs. 

Finally, Pandya and Jadeja took the Indian score to 94 and India finished the innings at 110 for 7 in 20 over. 

This score was not a good score by any means and especially for a match that was like the world cup quarter-final. 

From New Zealand bowling, Boult took 3 and Sodhi took 2 wickets. 

When New Zealand came to bat they were not under any pressure and scored the required runs easily in the 15th over. Their final score was 111-2 in 14.3 overs, NZ won the match against India by 8 wickets.

Ish Sodhi was named Man of the Match for taking 2 important wickets of Rohit and Kohli in his 4 overs for 17 runs.
