India vs New Zealand T20I – Match Details
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss today and has elected to bowl first.
Below are the India and New Zealand Playing XIs that were declared.
India XI: Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (w), Venkatesh Iyer, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj
New Zealand XI: Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert (w), Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee (c), Todd Astle, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult.
While batting first NZ played well and they scored 164 runs by losing 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Martin Guptil who was in prime form during T20 WC once again proved his class by scoring 70 off 42 deliveries. Mark Chapman too contributed with bat and scored 63 off 50 deliveries.
From India’s bowling side both Ashwin and Buvneshwar took 2 wickets each.
While chasing 164 runs, India started well but lost Rahul early in the 5th over. India made good use of the power play and scored 56 by losing just 1 wicket.
Thereafter, captain Rohit Sharma and Surya Kumar Yadav played brilliantly and took the score to 109 when Rohit got out at 48 off 36 deliveries.
Thereafter, Surya anchored the win and took the score to 149 when he got out at 62 off 42 deliveries.
Finally, India managed to win the match in 19.4 overs beating NZ by 5 wickets.
Surya Kumar Yadav was named Man of the Match for scoring 62 off 42 deliveries by hitting 6 fours and 3 sixers. He took the catch of Tim Seifert as well.
