The test record between the two teams is highly even-steven. Out of 39 matches played India has worn 14 whereas South Africa has registered a win 15 times and 10 matches have been drawn. 

An interesting observation is that India has never won a Test series in South Africa. Since 1992 India played 7 series against SA in South Africa and lost 6 whereas 1 series was drawn in 2010-11.

As clearly visible Virat has the best average of 55 runs per innings and second highest of 153 after Sachin. Virat got these runs when India last played a Test match at Centurion during their 2017/2018 tour of the rainbow nation.
