Janhit Mein Jaari – A Socially Important Theme
Janhit Mein Jaari – Nushratt’s Bold Act
Nushratt Bharuccha comes out of bounds and endorses the use of condoms dauntlessly in public in her movie Janhit Mein Jaari
Jail Basantu Singh has come up with an unscrutinized idea of the usage of condoms to spread public awareness regarding safe sex and reproductive health.
The movie can be called a step ahead like many other Bollywood movies nowadays in the development and nurturing of topics that are considered social taboos, and have been ignored in the past because of the shame and stigma associated with them.

The story revolves around Manokamna Tripathi (Nushrratt Bharucha) who is set on a journey of challenges and struggles to accomplish her arduous job of selling condoms.
Not being able to land any job, she is compelled to market condoms as a last resort to save herself from the marriage thing which her mother is asking her otherwise.
One can imagine the intimidation she would have faced, after all the job was quite demanding as well as embarrassing, especially for a woman in a country like India where a major chunk of the population is undereducated and lives in villages.
In the meantime, Mannu meets Ranjan (Anud Singh Dhaka) with whom she falls in love and marries later on. Afterward, things get complicated since selling condoms by a woman is in no way acceptable by any typical mindset family, and in Manu’s case, it’s her father-in-law played by Vijay Raaz who becomes the stone on the path.

The theme of Janhit Mein Jaari is good as it focuses on educating about women’s reproductive health and other issues humorously yet the direction by Jai Basantu Singh is weak at many points in the movie.
Anyways, we can exempt him from expecting too much since it was his debut movie. Talking about the acting skills, Nushrratt has given a powerful performance as she is the one who carried the movie on her shoulders.
Vijay Raaz, the conservative father-in-law has also maintained a very good rhythm throughout the movie as an unenterprising person and has got some fine acting skills.
Anud Singh Dhaka’s performance was ok since it depicted him as a demurred husband who couldn’t take a stand for his wife in front of his father. The audience is criticizing the character for this flaw in it. This can be attributed to a weak storyline written by Raaj Shaandaliya.
The supporting characters have failed to make marks in the memories of the audience. The soundtracks fail to impress enough that someone would replay them.
Overall, the movie has done ok, considering the not so well known cast and in absence of any bigger Bollywood banner, perhaps because of the humor element it contains and the idea that is peculiar.
