Jeff Bezos Set to Step Down as Amazon CEO Today
Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos (age 57) is all set to step down as CEO today (5th July, 2021). He chose to retire on 5th July exactly after 27 years he founded Amazon on July 5, 1994 as an online marketplace for books.
As per Forbes, Jeff who is the world’s richest man has worth nearly of $202 billion.
Andy Jassy, who is the leading Amazon’s cloud-computing division, will be the new CEO. Bezos to remain Amazon’s executive chairman. He plans to focus more on new products and early initiatives, he explained, “I’m an inventor. It’s what I enjoy the most and what I do best.”
In his final letter to shareholders, Bezos said that “You have to create more than you consume,” and “Your goal should be to create value for everyone you interact with.”
He also said, “If you read some of the news reports, you might think we have no care for employees. In those reports, our employees are sometimes accused of being desperate souls and treated like robots. That’s not accurate. They’re sophisticated and thoughtful people who have options for where to work. When we survey fulfillment center employees, 94% say they would recommend Amazon to a friend as a place to work.”
