PM Modi Appreciated Doctors on National Doctor’s Day

PM Modi Appreciated Doctors on National Doctor’s Day in an event was organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on the special occasion of National Doctor’s Day (1st July).

On this occasion, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the medical fraternity. He showed gratitude to the doctors on behalf of all the Indians for their selfless and dedicated services during the difficult times of this COVID-19 pandemic, especially the second wave.

Addressing the medical fraternity via video conference, the Prime Minister said that this day is to be celebrated in the memory of Dr. BC Roy, who is the symbol of the highest ideals of the medical fraternity.

Acknowledging the contribution of the doctors, the Prime Minister recalled their heroic and noble efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and paid homage to those who laid down their lives in the service of humanity.

The highlights of PM Modi’s address were:

  1. When the nation is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, the doctors have worked restlessly to save the lives of lakhs of people.
  2. I want to thank all the doctors on behalf of the 130 crores Indians.
  3. Our doctors have worked like God to change the course of our lives and faced all the challenges thrown by COVID-19.
  4. The budget allocation for the health sector this year has been doubled to over ₹ 2 lakh crores.

PM Modi also added that “Our doctors are facing this new virus which is mutating fast basis of their expertise and experience. Despite the limitations of the medical infrastructure and pressure of the population, India’s death rate and rate of infection is still manageable when compared to the developed countries because of the doctor’s tireless service”
