SL vs SA – 1st ODI Match
The first ODI match took place between Sri Lanka and South Africa on September 02, 2021. Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first.
Sri Lanka scored 300 and lost 9 wickets while South Africa could score only 286 runs by losing 6 wickets. The host Sri Lanka won by 14 runs against South Africa.
Avishka Fernando of Sri Lanka stood the “Player of the Match” by scoring 118 runs off 115 balls, whereas Charith Asalanka scored valuable 72 runs off 62 deliveries. In the bowling South African, Kagiso Rabada & Keshav Maharaj took 2 wickets each, and Aiden Markram & Tabraiz Shamsi both managed to take 1 wicket.

South Africa batted well, Aiden Markram scored 96 off 90 deliveries and Rassie van der Dussen contributed 59 off 59 deliveries. However, it was not sufficient to cross the winning line. From Sri Lankan bowling, Akila Dananjaya took 2 wickets whereas Chamika Karunaratne, Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, and Praveen Jayawickrama took 1 wicket each.

During the 2nd ODI match on September 04, South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. While batting first South Africa scored 283 runs by losing 6 wickets. During the third ODI match on September 07, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first, and scored 203 runs by losing 9 wickets. Keshav Maharaj took 3, Tabraiz Shamsi and George Linde both took 2 wickets each.
South Africa was all out on 125 runs in 30 overs by chasing the target of 204 runs. Sri Lanka won by 78 runs, Debutant spinner Maheesh Theekshana took 4 important wickets, and Dushmantha Chameera from Sri Lanka remained the “Player of the Match” who took 2 wickets and scored 29 runs.

Sri Lanka vs South Africa Series 2021 – T20Is
Sri Lanka vs South Africa series 2021 that played three T20I between 10th and 14th of September, South Africa has convincingly won the series by winning all three matches.
SL vs SA – 1st T20 Match
During the 1st match on September 10th, South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 28 runs. After winning the toss South Africa choose to bat first and scored 163 runs by losing 5 wickets, while Sri Lanka could only score 135 runs for 6 wickets in designated 20 overs.
Aiden Markram from South Africa remained the “Player of the Match” by scoring 48 runs on 33 balls.

During the 2nd match on the 12th of September, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first but could score only 103 runs and lost 10 wickets by 18.1 overs.

South Africa achieved the target by scoring 105 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 14.1 overs and won the match by 9 wickets. Quinton de Kock scored match-winning 58 runs off 48 balls.

Tabraiz Shamsi from South Africa stood the “Player of the Match” by taking 3 crucial wickets of Dhananjaya de Silva, Shanaka (c), and C Karunaratne. Aiden Markram too picked up 3 wickets and scored 21 runs.

At R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. In the designated 20 overs, Sri Lanka scored 120 runs by losing 8 wickets. The opener Kusal Perera scored 39 off 33 deliveries and Chamika Karunaratne scored 24 off 19.
South Africa once again did well with bowling, Bjorn Fortuin and Kagiso Rabada bot got 2 wickets, whereas Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, and Wiaan Mulder took 1 wicket each.
South Africa comfortably chased the required total comfortably without losing any wickets. The final score remained 121/0 in 14.4 overs and South Africa won by 10 wickets. The openers, Reeza Hendricks and Quinton De Kock got unbeaten half-centuries and scored 56 and 59 runs respectively.
After losing the ODI Series, South Africa did a complete whitewash of hosts in the T20 series by 3-0.
